Street vendors have come a long way, it's not just your Hot dogs & street corner fixes, Some of the best dishes that have people waiting on long lines are from these vendors. Meet Meru Sikder, Owner of The Biryani Cart in Midtown, Manhattan. A former banquet chef for The Hilton Hotel, Meru started off as a regular chicken and rice stand with a moderate following serving chicken biryani & tikka masala. It wasn't until a couple years ago when he introduced his version of the Kati roll that things started to take off. The Biryani Cart has been featured on the Travel channel, food network & has won a host of street vendor awards. Meru has been busy of late with the opening of his new Restaurant queens called Vooter Adda that serves “Bangladeshi, Indian & Pakistani Chinese Cuisine.” I will be there as I'm sure you will too!
